Retention – for a permanently stable treatment result<\/h3>

Once successful orthodontic treatment has been completed, it is important to stabilize the position of the teeth and jaws in the long term<\/strong>. As teeth move throughout life, they can shift again in the natural process without targeted securing. <\/p>

Retention appliances<\/strong> are used to prevent this. Depending on the individual therapy, we use either fine, fixed<\/a> retainers<\/strong>, which are attached inconspicuously behind the front teeth, or removable<\/a> plates or aligners<\/strong>, which are usually worn at night. This effectively minimizes the risk of renewed tooth movement. <\/p>

Retention appliances are used both for fine correction<\/strong> and to stabilize the treatment result<\/strong> after completion of active therapy. We determine which form of retention is most suitable for you individually based on your treatment. <\/p>

In the retention phase, the wearing time of removable appliances is gradually reduced. Of course, we also offer you regular check-ups<\/strong> after the end of active treatment to ensure the results are permanent. <\/p>

This appliance resembles a classic removable brace on the outside. To ensure a reliable treatment result, it should be worn regularly – especially at night. A very thin wire is permanently attached to the inside of the incisors and canines and stabilizes the achieved tooth position. This so-called adhesive retainer should be worn long-term – ideally for life – to prevent unwanted tooth movement after orthodontic treatment has been completed. After completion of active tooth correction, they are worn according to our individual recommendation.
