Tooth correction
Start early?
Orthodontic treatment for children and adolescents
The success of treatment depends heavily on cooperation, especially with children. Our experience shows that children feel comfortable with us and enjoy working with us – without any pressure.
Using jaw growth at an early stage
We recommend bringing your child to our practice at an early age. Possible misalignments of the jaw and teeth can be detected as early as primary school age. If necessary, early orthodontic treatment can then begin – usually between the ages of 6 and 9. During this phase, the jaw is still growing so that misalignments can be corrected particularly gently and effectively.
Early treatment – also keeping an eye on habits
Another important point is to break unfavorable habits such as thumb sucking, pacifier use, incorrect swallowing, tongue or lip pressing or nail biting as well as incorrect breathing. These habits can cause or even exacerbate malocclusions.
The main treatment in the second phase of tooth replacement
As soon as your child goes through the second change of teeth – usually between the ages of 9 and 11 – the actual main orthodontic treatment can begin. In this phase, there are many options for adapting the treatment to the individual tooth and jaw misalignment. Depending on requirements, both removable and fixed appliances are used. We draw on the entire spectrum of modern orthodontics.
We will be happy to advise you personally in our practice so that together we can find the ideal time for treatment and the right braces for your child.

Dental esthetics
Young people
We understand the desire to have teeth corrected very well and ensure that there are pleasant and efficient solutions for all ages.
As young people usually attach great importance to treatment that is as inconspicuous as possible, we also offer tooth-colored brackets, lingual brackets or INVISALIGN aligners.
We will be happy to advise you on the individual options.
BEFORE TREATMENT
Prior to orthodontic treatment, we create a medical treatment plan that is suitable for your needs. A detailed examination, digital impressions by scan, X-rays and photos are taken and serve as the basis of the treatment plan for your health insurance company.
AFTER TREATMENT
Once the active treatment phase is complete and an optimal result has been achieved, retention plates or splints provide the necessary stability.
To stabilize the result, the use of a custom-made adhesive retainer is also useful and part of our retention concept for an ideal long-term result.
FAQ
Orthodontic treatment Teens
How long do treatments take on average?
The duration of treatment depends on the dental situation.
Some corrections can be completed after just a few months, while more extensive orthodontic treatment usually takes 12-24 months. In children and adolescents, the duration of treatment is also heavily dependent on growth.
Are invisible aligners suitable for teenagers?
Yes, Invisalign aligners are also possible for teenagers, but only if they cooperate very well.
Do all treatments require active cooperation?
Active cooperation is also necessary with external or internal fixed braces. Dental care in particular requires special attention during this phase.
What does the health insurance fund pay for people with statutory health insurance?
The orthodontic indication group system of the statutory health insurance funds stipulates whether orthodontic treatment for children and adolescents is subsidized.
The classification of the KIG (orthodontic indication groups) does not provide any information about the medical need for treatment of your child, but rather describes the degree of severity from which the statutory health insurance fund will cover part of the treatment costs.
What does the health insurance fund pay for privately insured persons?
Many private insurance policies include orthodontic treatment for children and adolescents as part of their benefits.
In individual cases, you should contact your health insurance company and always submit a treatment and cost plan for approval.
If you are entitled to financial aid, the aid usually only provides a limited reimbursement of costs in accordance with the provisions of the applicable aid regulations up to the age of 18.
We would be happy to advise you personally on these complex issues in our practices.
What is important to bear in mind with supplementary insurance?
Please note: Supplementary insurance must be taken out before the start of treatment and consultation. Otherwise, many insurance companies will not be liable to pay benefits.
