How does Invisalign therapy work?
We treat misaligned teeth with a series of removable, almost invisible aligners. We have these so-called aligners made to measure for each individual patient.
First, computer simulation models are made for each stage of treatment. Depending on the complexity of the malocclusion, the number of wafer-thin aligners varies between 10-40 pieces.
The aligners are changed regularly and gradually bring the teeth closer to the planned final position. Each pair of aligners is worn for around 1-2 weeks before the next pair is used.
How is the treatment planned?
The basis for this is a precise digital 3D scan of the teeth. This allows the entire tooth movement to be planned virtually and the result to be simulated before treatment begins. The computer simulation shows in advance how the teeth will be corrected. This data is used to determine the exact shape of the individual aligners.
Can all malocclusions be treated with it?
Not every malocclusion can be corrected in this way. Our orthodontists check whether the aligners are suitable after a detailed examination.
Are invisible aligners the perfect treatment method for everyone?
No. Unfortunately, Invisalign is not suitable for every patient. Not every malocclusion can be corrected using this method. Only an appropriately trained and certified orthodontist can determine for which patient this treatment is possible after a comprehensive diagnosis.
Sometimes it can make sense to combine Invisalign with conventional treatment to correct teeth. We will be happy to advise you which treatment options are available in your specific case.
What are attachments?
Attachments are small, tooth-colored buttons that are bonded to individual teeth. They help the splints to perform certain movements better and more precisely – and are barely visible.
How long does the treatment take?
The duration depends on the position of the teeth. Minor corrections can be completed after just a few months, more extensive treatments usually take 12-24 months.
Is the treatment painless?
When inserting a new aligner, there may be a slight feeling of pressure – a sign that the teeth are moving. This feeling usually disappears after a few days.
Do the aligners have to be worn all day?
Yes, it is important to wear the aligners 22 hours a day to ensure success. Please only remove them when eating, drinking (except water) and brushing your teeth.
Can you eat everything with it?
Absolutely. As the aligners are removed for eating, there are no restrictions. After eating: Brush your teeth, insert the aligners – done.
Are the aligners visible?
No, they are almost invisible. They are barely noticeable even in direct conversation, which is why they are particularly interesting for professionals who have a lot of customer contact.
