Is patient cooperation required?
Lingual brackets allow the teeth to be adjusted inconspicuously. In contrast to removable appliances such as aligners, the patient’s wearing discipline is not decisive for the progress of treatment. The only thing we cannot do for you is dental care.
Is speech influenced by lingual technology?
The treatment option with lingual brackets depends on the individual position of the teeth and jaw. It must be borne in mind that the mobility of the tongue is sometimes impaired – a slight lisp cannot always be avoided. However, this can decrease as the patient gets used to the braces.
Are lingual braces the perfect treatment method for everyone?
The effect is achieved with fixed braces, which are suitable for both adolescents and adults.
This technique may be of particular interest to those who want a complete aesthetic treatment.
How long does the treatment take?
The duration of the tooth correction depends on the individual misalignment of the teeth.
As with conventional fixed braces, treatment is possible for up to two years.
Is the treatment painless?
When inserting new braces, there may initially be a slight feeling of pressure – a sign that the teeth are moving. This feeling generally decreases after a few days.
Special wax helps to reduce localized irritation of the oral mucosa.
What should I know about the costs of treatment?
The treatment costs are higher than for treatment with brackets fixed on the outside.
The additional costs are generally not covered by the statutory health insurance funds, private health insurance funds or subsidies.
